Mandatory paternity leave would spur dads to play a more vital role in their children’s lives.

Hats off to SONKE GENDER JUSTICE for highlighting the need for increased and meaningful male participation in parenting.

The suggestion to legislate paternity leave would not be the ONLY way to correct a clear imbalance in parenting roles and responsibilities, but it would be helpful.

True and lasting change will only come once a renewed mindset of paternity and particularly fathering turns into a pattern for parenting. For this to happen, we need to think of impacting a generation.
